It’s almost time to celebrate Independence day, and a great time to gather family and friends and make the most of great summertime weather with some all-American activities. Here are our top 10 things to do on the 4th of July. Watch a Parade (or be a part of one!) — Check your newspaper for parades big and small in your area. Have a Barbecue — Invite some friends for some burgers and hot dogs. A true summertime favorite. Hit the Water — Live near a beach or river? How about a pool? Make a splash with a special outing to your favorite body of water. You might even rent a boat or try casting your line for some fish! See a Rodeo — If you live somewhere that hosts a rodeo, this can be a great all-American outing. Here in Oregon we have lots, including the St. Paul Rodeo and the Molalla Buckeroo. Play a Game of Softball or Baseball — What could be more American than baseball? This can be a great activity for all ages. At the end of the game be sure to grab an ice cream cone! Have a Picnic — Pack up some sandwiches, summertime fruit and your favorite beverages and get out in the sunshine with a picnic. Go for a Bike Ride — Hit the trails or explore your neighborhood on your bicycle. Roast Marshmallows — Circle around the firepit and roast some marshmallows wth your best buds. You might even make some s’mores by sandwiching them with chocolate between two graham crackers. Go Camping — Summer is a great time to get outdoors, so why not get back to nature with a camping trip? See Some Fireworks! — End your 4th of July with the perfect grand finale of fireworks. No Independence Day would be complete without them.
